I hear all the time about how God is love. Yes, God is love, but he's also holy. Love doesn't mean he confirms us in our sin. That isn't love, it's indulgence and they aren't the same thing.
Parents love their children. Loving their children doesn't mean letting them play in the street, where they might get hit by cars. Loving their children doesn't mean letting them play with knives.
Loving someone doesn't mean you allow them to continue on aimlessly, in the wrong direction. It means you show them the right path, help direct them back to the right path. That's the love God shows us. That's the love we need to remember that God has.
So, when one hears that God is love, remember to think about what love truly is, not what we want it to mean.
